Spiritual and cultural connections can be a deeply meaningful support and tool for healing.
At Onward, we focus on understanding an individual’s unique religious, spiritual, and cultural background and identity. We believe it is crucial to understand how these experiences play into their struggles, but also how these experiences are tools that can assist with their healing.
Those struggling with addiction and mental health often bring with them a unique set of spiritual beliefs and cultural experiences with them into our doors. Religion can be a complex and delicate topic for our residents on all ends of the spectrum.
Through this program, we provide space for each client to harness those aspects of Jewish belief or practice that are personally meaningful, as well as an opportunity to work with a clinician who can help each resident process and explore what both spirituality and religion mean to him.
Residents are provided opportunities to explore and process religious, spiritual, and cultural identity in both group and individual settings, as well as through individual meetings with our program Rabbi.
Our clinicians are trained in the highest level of cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs of those coming from the Jewish community.
